Nokia N8 cameraGLOBAL - Damien Dinning, the authority on camera technology and the person who has played a pivotal role in the development of Nokia's latest camera-phone Nokia N8, has compiled a list of frequently asked questions regarding the camera and multimedia performance of the forthcoming device.

Dinning counters the questions being raised regarding the absence of a lens cover on the device by saying that the lens is actually made of a scratch-resistant material, and so, it is safe from abuse caused by daily use. He has also confirmed that there will be no RAW output from the camera, as the low JPEG compression coupled with the high-quality lens makes the need for RAW output almost non-existent.

The Nokia N8 lacks the famous variable aperture as seen in the Nokia N86 as the large sensor has been coupled with a neutral density filter which will come into action when taking shots in excessive light conditions.

Speed has also been an area of development with the N8's camera.Viewfinder lag has been brought down to 100ms, and shutter lag is 350ms, making a shot possible in less than half a second.

It has also been confirmed that the N8 will be able to playback 720p MKV files with H.264 content and output it to a HDTV along with 5.1 surround sound Dolby output.
